I have an ongoing love of social, local and family history and love delving into our ancestors lives, reaching beyond the basics, of name and date of birth to research their lives, how they worked, lived and loved. Through the use of original documents, photographs, and maps, I hope to illustrate their stories.
I have had several Case Studies published in the family history magazine Your Family Tree about some of my ancestors and an article on Housing the Working Classes in Your Family Tree magazine.
I have an especial interest in the history of women, many of whom remain nameless throughout history as they are often left out of parish register entries and unless documented in wills or land records, can remain an enigma to us.
Hi Carol,
I read your blog about Dade registers with much interest. I too am a professional researcher, I write articles for family history magazines and currently I am writing one about Dade registers for Discover your ancestors , a monthly internet-only periodical accessible via subscription.
I was wondering if I could possibly use your fine example for the article:
21 November 1774 – Charity d John Hodgson of Lutton near Malton Lab, s Thomas Hodgson Weaver dec and Mary (d Richard Beeles of Hunkleby near Pocklington, a weaver) now pris in the Castle, b Nov 16 in the Castle
Of course, I would accredit your name and link to your blog.
As I live in Devon, there are very few examples here in the registers, so I have to rely on other sources.
If you think you may be able to help me, I woul be very grateful for an early response, as the article is due for publication either May or June.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Jenny Jones.
Hi Jenny
Please do; I can imagine difficult finding examples in Devon as you say:-) And yes, an acknowledgement would be great.
Cheers
Carol
